Supply chain
Our fruit comes directly from our partner growers on a global scale. An efficient supply chain is key for us and our clients.
1: Farmer
Our fruit comes directly from our partner growers on a global scale, especially from South America and Africa. They are selected with care based on multiple factors such as sustainability, water management, and certifications such as Global Gap, SMETA, and Rainforest Alliance.
2: PAcking
After harvesting, the fruit gets transferred to the packing house for sorting and packing. Multiple tests are conducted, based on factors such as quality, dry matter, oil content, brix, and residues. After sorting, the fruit is packed according to size, using sustainable types of packaging.
3: Container
After cooling the fruit back to a certain temperature level, it gets loaded into a reefer container at the packing house in the country of origin and undergoes some final checks for the trip to the destination. The container is then transferred by truck to the port.
4: Vessel
Big reefer ships transport our fruits from the country of origin to the ports of Rotterdam, Flushing, or Antwerp. From South America, it can take an average of 2 to 3 weeks, and from Africa generally 3 to 4 weeks. Due to the right temperature settings and controlled atmosphere, the lifecycle is extended, and the fruit maintains its high quality.
5: Warehouse
After the arrival of the container at the port, it is transported by truck to our warehouse. The warehouse is equipped with various certifications, such as BRC, IFS, and GG COC.
Upon arrival, several checks are conducted by an independent party, including assessments of quality, oil content, dry matter/brix, and residues. By doing this, we can guarantee excellence in quality and taste.
Thereafter, the fruit receives its tailor-made treatment, depending on the clients' requests, such as ripening* and repacking.
*Avocado Ripening Process: the ripening program is determined by the stage of firmness upon arrival and dry matter. By implementing a temperature program over 2-5 days, combined with the application of ethylene, avocados ripen to the ideal stage. Subsequently, mechanical sorting based on infrared technology ensures the quality and firmness are guaranteed.
6: Client
Together with our transport partners, we can deliver the fruit at the desired time and location. We deliver to (online) retailers, wholesalers, foodservice & catering and restaurants.
